Dr. Gulsun Kurubacak Cakir received her first undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Ankara University, College of Educational Sciences, Department of Educational Administration and Planning in 1985; she completed her master’s degree (M.A.) in 1987 from Anadolu University Social Sciences Institute Educational Technologies Department and earned her doctorate (Ed.D.) in 2000 from Cincinnati University Teachers College, Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Kurubacak Cakir was a postdoctoral researcher in Distance Education at the University of New Mexico between 2001 and 2002. Dr. Kurubacak Cakir received her B.S. degree from the Computer Engineering Department of the International Turkish-Kazakhstan University, Faculty of Information Technologies and Engineering in 2013. Dr. Kurubacak Cakir is an Istanbul University College of Open Education Justice Associate Degree Program student. Dr. Kurubacak Cakir has thirty-five-year experience in open and distance learning systems. She is one of the distance education faculty members of Anadolu University College of Open Education, Department of Distance Education. Dr. Kurubacak Cakir is also an adjunct professor both at the Faculty of Engineering at Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, India, and at the B.A. in Electrical Engineering Education Program, Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Malang, Malang, Indonesia. Dr. Kurubacak Cakir is the R&D and International Relations Group Coordinator and also she is the Quality Group Coordinator between January 2020-March 2020 at the Anadolu University Open Education System. Dr. Kurubacak Cakir is the founder and chief editor of ETF (Educational Technology Foresight – http://journalpps.um.ac.id/index.php/css/index), AUAd (Journal of Open Education Research and Practice – http://auad.anadolu.edu.tr) since 2015; she is also the assistant editor of TOJDE (Turkish Journal of Online Distance Education – http://tojde.anadolu.edu.tr). Dr. Kurubacak Cakir is a founding Open Education Programs Accreditation and Distance Education Association (AUDAK) member. She was also the chairwoman of AUDAK between 2017-2021Dr. Kurubacak Cakir is also the founder of the @zamninotesineyolculuk (@journeybeyondtime), @uzaktanegitimkocu (@distanceeducarioncoach), @kelebekketkisikocu (@butterflyeffect), and @nitel_okuryazar (@qualitattive_literacy) movements, which broadcasting live programs on the Instagram addresses. Dr. Gulsun Kurubacak Cakir has received numerous awards for her research interest, including, in 2021, the Gold Ambassador Award and the Club for Leaders, a European Project. She has several publications and projects in open and distance learning. Her research interests include quantitative, qualitative, and mixed research; the design and implementation of an open and learning environment with a transhumanist culture; project-based learning and evaluation; and universal design principles and new technologies (BlockchainTechnologies, Learning Technologies, Foresight, Vision Design, Mobile Technologies, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Immersive Learning, Metaverse, Transhumanism).
